My Mission:

To help people communicate well in a clear and human way, to make life better for everybody involved.

Clear writing creates connection.

When things are easy to understand, people feel thought about and included.

It builds trust with colleagues and customers. And it makes everyone's working life easier.

It's good to be clear

You may know me from Communicating Brilliantly.

In 2026 I changed my business name to Clear and Human, because it says what I believe good communication should be.

Same person, same approach, clearer name.

Sound familiar?...

→ Board papers that don't help anyone decide

The reports are long. The main message is buried.

The board still has questions at the end.

→ Complaint responses that make things worse

The facts are all there, but the resident doesn't feel heard.

The Housing Ombudsman found poor communication was a key issue in 68% of the cases it reviewed over 15 months.

→ Policies nobody uses

They're written for auditors and regulators, not for the staff who need them on a busy, stressful day.

Busy brains love clarity

Our brains are amazing, but they're easily overloaded.

Every reader has the same three questions:

  1. Why am I reading this?

  2. What do I need to know?

  3. What do I need to do?

When your writing answers them quickly, people take in more, remember more and make better decisions.

Bad writing is costly: it wastes time, energy and goodwill.

How I can help

Board and committee reports that are shorter, sharper and meet good governance standards

Complaint responses that meet the Ombudsman's Code and rebuild trust

Policies and procedures that staff actually use

Tone of voice so your organisation sounds consistent and human

Using AI well to speed up your writing without losing clarity

More than a training day

Training on its own is easily forgotten.

So I work with you to find out what your readers need, agree what good looks like, and build habits that last.

  1. Understand – what your readers need, and where your writing is now

  2. Design – clear standards, templates and guidance that work with people's brains

  3. Embed – practical sessions, feedback and follow-up so it sticks
